On Wednesday, 17 December, Nurse Assist 24/7 brought together clients, families, and support staff for a Christmas celebration held at McLarty Hall, Shoalwater. The gathering marked more than the end of the year — it reflected the relationships, trust, and shared moments that define our approach to care.
For many people we support, community connection is just as important as daily assistance. This Christmas gathering was an opportunity to pause, celebrate together, and enjoy a space where everyone felt welcome, included, and valued.
The hall was filled with festive decorations, warm conversations, and shared laughter. Clients and staff came together not as service provider and recipient, but as a community — connecting through food, music, and meaningful interaction.
For individuals living with disability, environments that feel safe and inclusive make all the difference. The Christmas celebration created exactly that: a relaxed setting where people could socialise at their own pace, engage comfortably, and enjoy the season without pressure.
Celebrating Relationships, Not Just the Season
At Nurse Assist 24/7, support is built on consistency and genuine relationships. The Christmas gathering offered a chance to reflect on the year — the progress made, the challenges overcome, and the small daily wins that often go unseen.
Support workers who spend the year assisting with routines, health needs, and emotional support had the opportunity to connect with clients outside the structure of scheduled care. These moments strengthen trust and reinforce the human connection at the heart of quality disability support.
Events like this reflect our commitment to inclusion beyond care plans and services. True inclusion means creating opportunities for social participation, shared experiences, and community presence.
The celebration welcomed individuals with different support needs, communication styles, and sensory preferences. Activities were kept flexible, allowing everyone to engage in a way that felt comfortable and respectful.
This is what person-centred care looks like in practice — adapting environments to people, not the other way around.
Gratitude and Reflection
As the year comes to a close, we acknowledge the trust families place in us and the dedication shown by our support staff throughout the year. The Christmas gathering was also a moment of appreciation — recognising the collective effort that makes compassionate, reliable care possible.
Moments like these remind us that care extends beyond tasks. It’s about presence, understanding, and shared humanity.
As we move into a new year, Nurse Assist 24/7 remains committed to providing support that is respectful, consistent, and grounded in empathy. The Christmas celebration was a simple but powerful reminder of why we do what we do — to support people not just to live, but to belong.
We thank everyone who joined us and helped make the day meaningful.
